Cadillac

Appellation Cadillac is reserved for white still wines located south east ( Green ) within the Bordeaux wine region as seen in our Bordeaux wine glass.

The geographical area of Cadillac stretches from north to south for over thirty kilometers.  The walled town of Cadillac is located 40 Kilometers from Bordeaux and the appellation itself covers twenty-two towns.

The area is claimed by some sixty producers, though the surface (yield) varies depending on the weather conditions of the year as it can vary from 50 to 250 hectares.  The reason is because a climatic depression can affect concentration of the botrytis grapes which are required for the production.

The wines come from the following grape varieties:  Muscadelle, sauvignon, sauvignon gris and Semillon.  To comply with regulations, the vines have a minimum planting density of 4,500 vines per hectare and the grape harvest has to be carried out by hand.  The bottling of the wines must take place in the same place as wine making and ageing.  The finished wines must be sold "bottled at the property".

wines are gold in colour and develop soft aromas of white fruits and flowers. Wines are balanced which combine softness and chic elegance, with great aromatic persistence.  These are great wines for ageing

After the rearing period the wines are marketed to the consumer from the 31st March of the year following the year of harvest.

The grape harvest, wine making and preparation also bottling of the wines are insured in the following municipalities of the Gironde department:
