Castillon cotes de Bordeaux
Castillon Cotes de Bordeaux is reserved for red still wines located east ( Purple ) within the Bordeaux wine area as seen in our Bordeaux wine glass.
Cotes de Bordeaux the name of the appellation may be supplemented by the following complementary geographical denominations. Blaye, Cadillac, Castillon and Francs. All wines must meet set conditions of the A.O.C production and regulations.
To comply with regulations, the vines have a minimum planting density of 5,000 vines per hectare for the geographical name Castillon.
Merlot dominates in the blend providing expressive and solid wines that provide structured tannins with generous flavour, great texture and a nice round finish.
The red wines are subject to a minimum ageing until the 15th March of the year following that of the harvest, after the rearing period wines are made available to the consumer from the 31st March of the year following the year of harvest the grape harvest.
For additional geographical designation Castillon, the grape harvest, the wine making and development also ageing of wines are guaranteed in the territory of the following municipalities in Gironde:
Belves de Castillon, Castillon, Gardegan et Tourtirac, Les Salles de Castillon, Part of the town of Puisseguin for the territory before its merger with Monbadon on the 1st January 1989, Sainte Colombe Saint Genes de Castillon, Saint Magne de Castillon and Saint Philippe d'Aiguille.
