Lalande de Pomerol
Appellation Lalande de Pomerol is reserved for red still wine, located east ( Purple ) within the Bordeaux wine area as seen in our Bordeaux wine glass.
The geographical area of the controlled appellation of origin Lalande de Pomerol is located northeast in the Gironde department, situated in Libourne which is bordered by the river Barbanne.
Today, the vineyards cover approximately 1,145 hectares by roughly 180 wine producers with an average annual production of 50,000 hectolitres.
The soils have a clay element as well as as the gravelly component, distinctive in Pomerol.
To comply with regulations, the vines have a minimum planting density of 5,500 vines per hectare.
wines come from the following grape varieties: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Merlot.
Red wines from this area offer deep colour with shades of ruby, aromas of black and red berries with hints of violet. Certainly ample flesh in the mouth without harshness and offer great balance. Chic seductive elegance that simply gets better with age.
The red wines are aged at least until the 15th March of the year following the year of harvest, then are then made available to the consumer from the 31st March.
