Medoc


Appellation Medoc is reserved for red still wine, located North West ( Blue ) within the Bordeaux wine region as seen in our Bordeaux wine glass. 
 

The geographical area of ​​the controlled appellation of origin Medoc is located in the Gironde department, left bank of the Gironde estuary and north of Bordeaux.  This part of the Medoc peninsula stretches for about 80 kilometers from north to south,  just over ten kilometers from east to west. 

Soils of the Medoc region are divided between layers of clay and sandy gravel carried by the Garonne and Dordogne rivers. 

The vineyards produce approximately 290,000 hectoliters of red wine and producing among some of the most structured wines in the Gironde.

Wines are complex, round and offer great intense colour and  primarily structured from the Cabernet Sauvignon grape variety. Other varieties often used are merlot, cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.  wines have excellent ageing ability.

 To meet with regulations, the vines have a minimum planting density of 5,000 vines per hectare. 

Wines are also the subject of ageing until at least 31 May of the year following the year of harvest.
