Pessac Leognan


Pessac Leognan appellation is reserved for white and red still wine, located South West ( Yellow ) within the Bordeaux wine region as seen in our Bordeaux wine glass. 
 

Pessac Leognan sits on the boundaries of Bordeaux City,  the northern vineyards of the appellation touch with the southern boundaries of city.  To the south of the appellation you are surrounded by the pine forests,  of which the trees assist in creating the unique micro climate by protecting the vines from the humidity and winds.

Pessac-Leognan is thought to have some of the best soils of the region similar to those of the Medoc, although the depth of gravel is more variable.

 To comply with regulations, the vineyards have a minimum planting density of 6,500 vines per hectare.

White wines are often blended with the following grape varieties. Muscadelle, Sauvignon, Sauvignon gris and Semillon.

White wines are aged until the 15th March following the year’s harvest and are then made available to the consumer from the 30th March following the year’s harvest.

Pessac Leognan Red wines are subject to a rearing until the 15th September following the year’s harvest and are then made available to the consumer from the 1st October following the years.

The grape harvest, wine making and development of wines are guaranteed in the following territory municipalities in the Gironde.

Cadaujac, Canejan, Gradignan, Leognan, Martillac, Merignac, Pessac, Saint Medard d'Eyrans, Talence and Villenave d'Ornon.
