Puisseguin Saint Emilion


Puisseguin Saint Emilion appellation of origin  is reserved for red still wine, located East ( Purple ) within the Bordeaux wine region as seen in our Bordeaux wine glass.

Puisseguin Saint Emilion has a landscape that consists of rugged rolling hills and slopes, where vineyards and Chateaux are very well manicured.

The geographical area of the controlled appellation of origin Puisseguin Saint Emilion is located northeast in the Gironde department, sitting 48 kilometers northeast of Bordeaux and 10 kilometers northeast of Saint Emilion.  

The climate offers moderate differences which favour the vines with a noticeable continental climate characteristic, with higher temperatures in the summer and autumn promoting the ripeness of the grapes that is needed for the harvest.

To comply with regulations, the vines have a minimum planting density of 5,500 vines per hectare.  

Wines are made from the following grape varieties: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Carmenere and Petit Verdot.

The appellation production covers approximately 740 hectares, mostly family run vineyards with an average plot size of 7 hectares of vineyards per family  producing on averag total of 35,000 hectoliters.  

Mostly dominant of the Merlot grape variety, wines are powerful, round, intense colour that develop a wonderful complex bouquet.  Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grape variety bring the freshness and structure while increasing the ageing potential making them great in years to come.

The wines are the subject of a rearing until at least the 31st March of the year following the year of harvest,  after this rearing period the wines are able to be marketed to the consumer from the 15th April of the year following the harvest.

The grape harvest, wine making and development of wines are guaranteed in the territory in the commune of the Gironde department of Puisseguin,

consisting of the cadastral sections TA, A1 A5, B1 to B5, C1 to C4, D1 to D6 and E1 to E4.
